Camp Internship for Leadership Training (Entering 10th - 12th grade)

Our Camp Internship for Leadership Training (CILT) program is for campers entering 10th - 12th grades. This volunteer program provides qualified young people with leadership experiences to prepare them to be future camp counselors and leaders. Under the supervision of the Leadership Team and the Senior Staff, CILTs are placed with up to four different camper groups during the summer. This provides each CILT with a variety of experiences that allow them to learn about the varied needs and developmental levels of children of different ages and gender. During each assignment, CILTs further develop their leadership skills allowing them to expand their interactions with each new assignment.

CILTs participate in two required Saturday training days prior to the start of camp. During these days, CILTs learn about the Camp Kinneret philosophy, camp leadership, positive approaches to discipline and the importance of being a positive role model. Once camp starts, CILTs meet individually with members of the Leadership Team and weekly as a group. While most CILTs are former campers, during typical years, the program has space for a small number of CILTs who are new to Camp Kinneret.

Campers In Training

CILT participation requires attendance for a minimum of 2 full assignment rotations (4-5 weeks depending on the session), but CILTs are strongly encouraged to attend for at least 3 of the 4 rotations. Extended participation provides greater opportunities for learning, evaluation, feedback and re-engagement at a new level. CILTs attend camp 5 days each week. Camp transportation is provided from the regularly scheduled camper bus stops.

To participate in the CILT program, interested individuals must complete an application, be interviewed by one of the camp directors and be selected from among the pool of applicants. Those chosen pay a $50 registration fee. CILTs who successfully complete the program receive an honorarium at the end of the summer.

The 2012 mandatory CILT training days are scheduled for May 19th and June 9th from 9:30am - 4:30pm
