Camper in Training (Entering 8th and 9th grades)
The Camp Kinneret Camper in Training (CIT) Program is available for campers entering 8th and 9th grades in the fall. This fun program provides young teens with opportunities to participate in regular camp activities while learning leadership and counseling skills.
CITs have their own counselor and spend the first two weeks of each session together participating in camp activities while learning and practicing leadership skills, and developing an appreciation for the importance of being a role-model in the camp community.
The second part of each session provides CITs with opportunities to put into practice the things that they have learned. During this time, each CIT is placed in a different group each day and given the opportunity to help the counselor and lead the younger campers. By participating with a variety of different groups, CITs learn about the developmental needs of children at different ages and observe a variety of counseling styles. Additionally, to the degree that they feel ready, they are given opportunities to lead and put into practice their newly learned skills.
CITs enroll as regular campers. This special program is the ideal mix of social fun and leadership for this age making it extremely popular. If you or your CIT age child have any questions, or would like to learn more about this program, please call our office today and speak with one of our directors.
